Your guide will meet you at your hotel or cruise ship for the drive to the Ancient City of Hierapolis which was founded in 109BC, by King Attalus II of Pergamon. It became a famous spa centre and, by the 2nd C AD, under Imperial patronage the city prospered. We visit the large well preserved ancient theatre, which could accommodate up to 20,000 spectators, the Basilica, Agora, the Triple Arch Roman Gate, the Latrines, Pools, Byzantine church, the Baths, the Temple, the Holy area, a monumental fountain and baths to explore.There is the largest Necropolis in Turkey, which contains 1200 tombs and the on site Museum exhibits statuary and artifacts. St Phillip was mayrtred here and a church stands above his tomb. Pamukkale, the "Cotton Castle", is a truly magical spectacle which was created by the thermal waters that cascade down the mountain side and form large white terraces and pools.
