Day 1: Our representative will meet you at your hotel and transfer you to the airport for the flight to Kayseri or Nevsehir, where you will be met by your guide and transfered to your hotel in Cappadocia. Your tour begins with a visit to the Devrent Valley, where the small fairy chimneys form a lunar landscape, or moonscape. In Monks Valley, Pasabagi. Here you will see some of the most striking fairy chimneys in Cappadocia with twin and even triple rock caps. This style is unique even for Cappadocia. From the valley we drive to the city of Avanos for lunch. Afterwards we continue on to the Goreme open-air museum. It contains the finest of the rock-cut churches, with beautiful frescoes whose colors still retain all their original freshness. The Nunnery, St. Barbara Church, Apple Church, Snake (Yilanli) Church, Dark Church, Sandals Church and Buckle Church are the most important churches in the area. Lastly, before returning to your hotel, we visit the natural castle at Uchisar. Overnight stay in Cappadocia.
Day 2: The day begins with a 4 km hike through the Rose Valley, arriving in the old Christian village of Cavusin. After lunch we drive to the Underground City of Kaymakli. Resembling the Mines of Moria, from the film Lord of the Rings, these cave-cities were hewn out the tufa rock by the Hittite tribes, and expanded over the centuries as various armies plundered the area in search of loot. Before Christianity was adopted by the Romans, early Christians took shelter in these underground cities to avoid persecutors. The days tour ends with a visit to the town of Ortahisar. Finally you are transfered back to the airport for your return flight to Istanbul.
