Day 1: Arrival
On arrival at Istanbul airport our local representative will meet you and transfer you to your hotel. Depending on the time of your arrival we may be able to enjoy an excursion not available in our fixed itinary or you may wish to spend the day at your leisure.
Day 2: Istanbul.
After breakfast your guide will meet you in the reception lounge and escort you around the Old City. You will visit the “Blue Mosque” famed for its stunning blue Iznik Tiles and Six Minarets, The Byzantine Basilica of Hagia Sofia, with its amazing mosaics and frescoes, Topkapi Palace, the home of the Ottoman Sultans for nearly 400 years, the Basilica Cistern and the Hippodrome, with its Egyptian Obelisk, Serpent Column and the Fountain of Kaiser Wilheim II. A visit to the Grand Bazaar, with over 4,000 shops rounds off the day. Transfer back to your hotel.
Day 3: Istanbul – Izmir - Ephesus
After an early breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for the flight to Izmir. On your arrival you will be met by our local representative and transferred to your hotel in Kusadasi. Your guide will meet you in the reception lounge and escort you to the Ancient City of Ephesus. The tour of Ephesus begins with a visit to the House of the Virgin Mary. Little is known of Mary’s life after she fled Jerusalem following the crucifixion of Christ, but religious scholars believe she came to Seljuk with John the Baptist. The drive down Mount Pion will take you the ancient site and you will walk along the Sacred Way, passing the Amphitheatre were St Paul preached, the Library of Celsius, the Odeon, the Agora and the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Leaving the site you will view either St John’s Basilica or the Ephesus Museum before returning to Kusadasi.
Day 4: Hierapolis and Pamukkale
After breakfast you are driven to Hierapolis famed for its therapeutic baths, the largest necropolis in Turkey and its magnificent Amphitheatre. The on-site museum exhibits statuary and artefacts unearthed in excavations in the area. The Travertines of Pamukkale, the "Cotton Castle", were formed hundreds of years ago by the calcified waters which pour down the mountain. You have the opportunity to paddle in the pools or bathe in the Roman Baths Overnight stay in Pamukkale.
Day 5: Pamukkale – Cappadocia
After an early breakfast you will be transferred to Cappadocia. After check in at your hotel the tour of the valley will visit the Red Valley, Monks Valley and the village of Avanos, famous for its ceramics. The Goreme Open Air Museum is filled with Cave Churches adorned with colourful frescoes. Their bright colours are as vivid as the day they were painted, due to the fact that they have not been exposed to daylight.
Day 6: Cappadocia - Istanbul
For the early bird an optional Hot Air Balloon Flight over the lunar landscape can put a whole new perspective on the rugged terrain. As dawn breaks these colourful giants climb into the air and drift silently over the valley's filled with "fairy chimneys and rock caves. We visit the Pigeon Valley, Uchisar Castle and the underground city of Kaymakli. After the tour you will be transferred to Kayseri airport for the evening flight to Istanbul.
Day 7: Departure
After breakfast you will be transferred to the aırport for your onward flight.
